PILLOW TALK

I love pillows and cushions and have to admit to having an inordinate amount of them (currently boxed up and floating their way over the Atlantic with my belongings). I also love bedlinen. Making up my bed, choosing the various colours and patterns of linen to contrast (I never use a completely matching set) then piling up the pillows, is one of my favourite ways to change the look of my bedroom and keep it fresh.
I always use two different sets of pillowcases on my bed at one time (got to have 4 fluffy pillows!) and love that they can instantly change the look and spruce up even a plain set of sheets really inexpensively. Whether I choose the pillowcases for the colour and pattern, or an image screen printed on simple white linen, they always reflect my mood.

DESIGN THERAPY: Cath Kidston

Evoking memories of a by-gone age, Cath Kidston creates vintage inspired fabric designs that define her homeware and accessories ranges. Delicate florals, candy stripes and whimsical cowboy and sailing prints adorn her bags, bedding and table linens, taking inspiration from the 30s and 40s.

"Cath Kidston Ltd was founded in 1993 when designer Cath Kidston opened a tiny shop in London’s Holland Park. She began by selling the vintage fabrics, wallpapers and brightly-painted junk furniture she remembered fondly from her childhood. Her clever, witty re-working of traditional English country house style meant that her shop soon became a cult success."-via Cath Kidston

Kidston Bags utilise her oil cloth and fabric designs, in every possible form..book-bag, tote, messenger, laundry, luggage and more.

In fact, Cath Kidston has turned her hand to every conceivable accessory you could want...radios, crockery, tents, gardening accessories, clothing, storage, knitting and sewing.

There is a lovely nostalgic playfulness and delicate romanticism in all that she does. This is typically British fare that I adore. Read more about the woman behind the work here.
