DESIGN THERAPY: Orla Kiely

The Dublin-born designer, Orla Kiely's signature style is inspired by the 60s and 70s, and is most recognisable by her use of graphic designs using leaves, stems and flowers. Her bold use of colour with a retro touch makes her work instantly recognisable. Kiely is best known for her bags, particularly her range of oil cloth totes. They are most definitely modern classics.

"The world of Orla Kiely is one where colour, pattern, graphic control, texture and rhythm continually work and rework together. Orla has a unique, immediately recognisable design language, developed through graphic patterns that celebrate her optimistic spirit. As down-to-earth as her designs are popular, the key to what drives Orla is her fixation on the evolution of a signature style, devotion to quality and practicality"- via Orla Kiely
