"It's not such an unusual story, but we met at school when we were 14 years old, and never lost touch. In the Spring of 2005, we decided we were ready to start new chapters in our professional lives. Brett had been working in film and designing jewellery in her spare time; Lucy was a fashion buyer. Both of us felt the need to do something adventurous and creative. We realised there was a gap in the market for elegant, affordable clutches and decided to try and fill it. Our goals were to produce high-quality, statement bags that wouldn't break the bank. Wilbur & Gussie was born.

Their Brand name came from their childhood pets, Wilbur the Cat and Gussie the Dog. Each line of clutches is further named from more family pets. The Charlie range of clutches are made from vibrant coloured silks adorned with elaborate vintage brooches as clasps.
